Immigration Reform Rallies Getting Bolder

immigration reform rallyThe New York Times reported this week that in New York City, demonstrators rallied in lower Manhattan and indicated their frustrations with President Obama and his administration for not doing enough to pass immigration reform.

The rally that took place on Wednesday, is the most recent by immigrants and their supporters in the New York metropolitan area that have included vigils, sit-ins, marches, and acts of civil disobedience.

The momentum for the passage of immigration reform has been building up over the years.  However, the fact that the new immigration law in Arizona that was passed in April which will become effective July 29th of this year, immigration reform rallies and marches across the country have become bolder.

Demonstrators across the country, most of them undocumented immigrants, have increasingly shown their willingness to risk detection, apprehension, and deportation by immigration authorities by drawing attention to themselves publicly.  Many feel that they can no longer continue living this way and are willing to risk everything, including their lives so that the government can resolve our country’s immigration problem.  If not for the demonstrators, then for anyone who would benefit.
