The Washington Times reported today that while the President and Senators Schumer and Graham push to have an immigration reform bill passed this year, they claim that an important component to pass the bill is missing, that is another Republican to co-sponsor the bill.
Congressional insiders known to key Senators Like Jon Kyl, and Harry Reid agree that this time around, immigration reform the does not have the support it had back in 2006 and 2007 to even have a chance of passing this year.
Lawmakers agree that the system is broken, the laws must be overhauled, and that the undocumented immigrant problem is rising. However, there are other pressing issues like the economy, rising unemployment, mid-term elections, and the war on terror that must all be resolved.
We at Pappas & Associates, P.A. hope that immigration reform will be given the attention it deserves and, that it garners the support needed to pass the bill this year.
