The Orlando Sentinel reported this past weekend that the immigration reform rally organized by leaders of Reform Immigration for America, held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. yesterday called on lawmakers to pass immigration reform this year.
Marchers and their supporters at the rally commented that because a vote on health care reform was recently made, immigration reform should now be next.
Congressional insiders have said that immigration reform may be delayed due to other domestic issues, such as the economy, rising unemployment, and energy consumption. Additionally, insiders have said that legalizing 11 to 12 million undocumented immigrants will face resistance from many Republicans and moderate Democrats plus, midterm elections are scheduled to occur later this year.
The Latino constituency has been very critical of the President and his administration. Particularly, they expressed their frustration with the President’s lack of action on pushing for immigration reform while deportations are happening in record numbers.
We at Pappas & Associates applaud these groups for their efforts and encourage them to continue their struggle so that someday, the immigration problem our nation has is resolved once and for all.
