The U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (USICE) reported this week that a man from California was arrested earlier this week and charged with conspiracy to commit visa fraud.
He was the mastermind of an immigration fraud scheme that involved foreign students enrolled at schools in the Southern California area including several junior colleges and, three California State University campuses.
The USICE’s investigation revealed that the students paid the man and individuals who worked for him to attend classes on behalf of the students in exchange for maintaining their non-immigrant student visa status.
The investigation was led by the USICE, Los Angeles Office of Investigations, particularly, its Compliance Enforcement Unit (CEU). The CEU is responsible to identify, investigate, and apprehend foreign students and other non-immigrant visitors to the U.S. that the USICE knows or has reason to believe have violated the terms and conditions of their visas.
