USCIS Changes Filing Location for Applications to Adjust Status

permanent resident cardThe U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services  (USCIS) reported today that as part of their overall transition to the use of lockbox facilities instead of service centers, that beginning February 25, 2010, Form I-485 (Application to Adjust Status) are to be submitted to the Dallas or Phoenix Lockbox Facilities depending on where the applicant resides.

The I-485 is a form that allows foreign nationals to apply for permanent residence (green cards) while they are in the U.S. as long as they meet the requirements.

This is great news for applicants and immigration practitioners alike due to the fact that the USCIS is providing more efficient service and processing this type of application (which happens to be the most common application), so that foreign nationals will receive their benefits to live and remain in the U.S. permanently.
