State of the Union Address Tonight, Immigration Reform Expected to be on the Agenda
The Orlando Sentinel reported today that in President Obama’s State of the Union address tonight, he will need to genuinely reconnect with the American public despite a now divided Congress and a frustrated nation.
What the President plans to do in his address tonight is to discuss job creation to turn the economy around and, to reassure the American people that he understands their daily concerns about keeping their jobs and putting food on the table. He will also offer solutions to healthcare reform, ending the war on terror, and a reduction on some types of government spending.
As a follow up to our post earlier this week on Monday, the President will in fact discuss immigration reform. This is a hot button issue that he promised to work on during his first year in office. However as we all know, it became a back burner issue.
The President plans to renew his call for immigration reform but realistically, the country is dealing with increasing unemployment, a downturning economy, a divided legislature, and a public whose patience is beginning to wear thin.
