The Orlando Sentinel reported today that officials from the U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (USICE) have seized a rare Italian sports car valued at over $ 700,000 that is alleged to have violated customs and environmental regulations.
USICE officials in their affidavit in support of the seizure warrant, stated that the vehicle owner’s import agent stated on customs documents when the 1994 Cizeta V16 was brought to the U.S. that it was worth $125,000, although it was discovered that the vehicle was originally for about $600,000.
The customs declaration forms also stated the vehicle was brought in for maintenance and repairs and was to be exported within one year.
In addition to the customs violations, USICE officials have said that the vehicle is non-compliant with current U.S. environmental and transportation safety regulations.
