Validity of I-9 Form Extended

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced recently that that the Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification), revised on February 2, 2009 that is currently on the USCIS Web site will continue to be valid for use beyond June 30, 2009.

Form I-9 is used by U.S. based employers to determine whether or not an individual is authorized to work in the U.S and, to comply with record keeping requirements in accordance with the immigration laws concerning the same.   

The USCIS has requested that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) authorize the continued use of the current version of Form I-9. Additionally, while this request is pending, the current version of the I-9  form will not expire.
