The Wall Street Journal reported today that President Barack Obama will meet with Congressional leaders next month to discuss immigration reform.
Next month’s meeting will signify that the President is actively working towards a solution to the nation’s immigration problem.
Immigration reform has become a sensitive issue among Americans frustrated by illegal immigration. Many Americans feel that because the unemployment rate is approaching 10%, immigration reform should be discussed after the economy and, the war against terror are resolved.
The President agrees with the concept of providing a means to legalize undocumented immigrants already in the U.S., while continuing to heighten enforcement along our borders.
Resolving the immigration problem is a huge task. Steps are being taken to tackle this problem, but there will be a tremendous amount of work to do so that the balance between enforcement and granting benefits is reached.
