New I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form Goes Into Effect Today

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued a reminder to the public that the new version of Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 (PDF), revised on February 2, 2009, goes into effect today for all U.S. employers.
The interim final rule published Dec.17, 2008 in the Federal Register, revised the list of documents that are now acceptable for the employment eligibility verification process.

The new version of the I-9 Form will help combat fraud by making it easier for employers to ensure that newly hired employees are legally eligible for employment in the U.S.
