The Washington Post reported this past Sunday that Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Homeland Security has delayed proposed immigration raids and other enforcement actions to be carried out by the U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) at U.S. workplaces.
“ICE is now scrutinizing these cases more thoroughly to ensure that [targets] are being taken down when they should be taken down, and that the employer is being targeted and the surveillance and the investigation is being done how it should be done,” said a senior DHS official on the condition of anonymity.
These immigration raids will focus more on apprehending business owners rather than undocumented workers.
